Why do I need INZ 1092?
Immigration New Zealand requires proof that the applicant has financial and housing support, reducing reliance on public resources. Sponsorship often strengthens visa applications.
Who Can Be a Sponsor?
- Individuals: Must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, aged 18+, living in NZ, and not bankrupt or in prison.
- Organisations: Includes registered companies, incorporated societies, government agencies, and charitable trusts.
- Restrictions: A sponsor must not have previously failed sponsorship obligations or have unpaid debts to the government.
What Are Sponsor Obligations?
By completing INZ 1092, the sponsor agrees to:
- Provide suitable accommodation for the applicant.
- Cover living costs (food, transport, daily needs).
- Pay healthcare costs not covered by insurance or the public system.
- Repay the government for deportation or repatriation costs if required.
- Ensure the applicant abides by all visa conditions.
What Information Is Required?
- Full name, address, and date of birth of the sponsor.
- Citizenship/residency proof (e.g., passport or resident visa).
- Financial details demonstrating ability to support the applicant.
- Relationship to the applicant (family, employer, host).
- For organisations: registration details, tax number, and authorised signatory.
