What to do if a file won't upload or convert
Last updated: by Zendocs Support Team
Most upload and conversion problems come down to a handful of causes. Work through this list in order. The first three steps resolve the majority of cases.
Check the size limit
Most Zendocs tools accept files up to 100 MB. Translate PDF accepts up to 40 MB, and the AI Humanizer up to 10 MB. The full list is in Supported file types and size limits. first, or break it up with Compress PDF If your file is over the cap, run it through Split PDF.
Check the format
Make sure the tool matches the file: PDF converters expect a PDF, the HEIC converters expect HEIC photos, and so on. If the file came from another app or an old download, try re-exporting or re-saving it. A fresh export often fixes files that were corrupted or cut off previously.
Check for password protection
A password-protected PDF can block processing. If you are authorized to open the file, remove the restriction with Unlock PDF.
Scanned file returning empty or garbled text?
The pages are images, not text. Run the file through Scan to Text.
Rule out browser issues
- Open Zendocs in a private or incognito window.
- Temporarily turn off ad blockers and strict privacy extensions.
- Confirm your connection is stable.
- Try a different browser or device. Zendocs runs on desktop, tablet, and phone.
